Ndoro Necklace, hand crafted in Zimbabwe in Sterling Silver

Our stylized silver Ndoro necklace is inspired by an ancient African artefact from the Kingdom of Great Zimbabwe!


The Ndoro's were used as a form of currency in the Kingdom of Great Zimbabwe. As often does with symbols of power and wealth it became the coveted "jewellery" to be worn on the foreheads of women of great importance in the Kingdom. The more Ndoro's you wore the higher in society you were in the Kingdom and the wealthier your family was.


The spiral of the Ndoro we have re-created with engraving into silver - one little dot at a time.


The Ndoro is made in sterling silver and is 15 mm by 15 mm. We have hung it on a 60 cm sterling silver chain. If you would prefer a shorter one please do let me know.
