Our story . . .
I am Anne, the founder of The Zuri Collection, a journey two, almost three decades in the making, woven from passion, perseverance, and the rich heritage of Africa.
Born in Zimbabwe, my life, like so many others, took me far from home in search of opportunity. It was in Oregon, at just seventeen, that I first discovered the art of silversmithing, by chance, in a metalwork class I hadn’t meant to take. From the very first time I shaped metal by hand, I fell in love with the transformative power of craftsmanship, the ability to tell a story in silver.
Life, however, often calls us down practical paths. The responsibilities of motherhood and career led me away from the bench, but never far from the dream. For years, I would steal quiet moments to create small pieces that carried fragments of joy, beauty, and memory.
After nearly two decades abroad, I returned to Zimbabwe, the land that had always been home, bringing with me not only my daughter but the quiet promise I had once made to myself: that one day I would return to the craft I loved.
It wasn’t immediate. Zimbabwe’s own challenges meant survival came first. But fate, as it so often does, intervened when I met a remarkable woman who rekindled my passion for jewellery. That spark ignited the flame that became The Zuri Collection.
For years, I balanced my work and my art, until finally, in 2021, I stepped fully into the life I had always dreamed of, crafting jewellery inspired by the land, the people, and the timeless stories of Africa.
The name Zuri comes from Swahili, meaning beautiful. To me, it embodies not just the outward beauty of our jewellery, but the deeper beauty of Africa herself—its landscapes, its wildlife, its cultures, and its spirit. Though I am Zimbabwean, I chose a name that reflects the rich mosaic of influences that shape life on this continent: African, Arabic, European, a tapestry of identities that, together, create something truly extraordinary.
At The Zuri Collection, every piece is crafted to capture a story of heritage, of nature, of love, of belonging. It is an invitation to carry a part of Africa’s beauty with you, wherever you go.
This is not just jewellery. It is art. It is history. It is the celebration of a dream fulfilled.
Welcome to The Zuri Collection. Welcome to the Zuri Tribe.
