Our mini Ndoro ring is handmade from recycled sterling silver in our workshop in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. The Ndoro disc is 10 mm in diameter and is a chunky 2 mm thick. The Ndoro pattern is hand-etched one little dot at a time. The band is 2 mm wide and is half round.
I've posted a picture of a Ndoro so that you can see where our inspiration came for our stylized version of this ancient artifact. Ndoro's adorned many a wealthy man's wives during the height of the Kingdom of Great Zimbabwe. The Ndoros were used as "currency" and also as a status symbol. The more Ndoros your wife wore was an indication of your status in society and where you were in the hierarchy of the Kingdom.
Your ring will come carefully wrapped in hessian and placed in a handmade sisal/ilala palm basket that we buy from ladies in the rural areas around Bulawayo. This protects the piece during shipping and can be composted should you wish to recycle the packaging. We will also enclose a little card which gives you a brief history of the Ndoro - please see the photo above of what info will be on the card.
Our mini Ndoro Stud earrings go perfectly with these: https://www.etsy.com/listing/635885546/ndoro-earrings-symbols-of-wealth-and?ref=shop_home_feat_2&frs=1
